Estaba repleto y para los que no cabían había una pantalla fuera…
    
      Cumplimos nuestra palabra restituyendo el concierto anulado el año pasado por la operación de Marina. Que bueno tocar en casa, porque esa era la sensación, ya que viví un año cerca de acá, entre Collbató y Piera, en casa de mi buen amigo Xavi Jimenez (murió hace poco), cómplice en el proyecto musical Amalgama en el que empezamos a experimentar la fusión entre el flamenco y la música hindú que luego trasladé con la ayuda de Max a Ojos de Brujo. Me encontré a la peña de aquella época y me falto mencionar algo al respecto en el concierto, y hasta saludar a algunos de ellos después del concierto, pero es que estaba agotado completamente.

       Un buen concierto, estaba repleto, el personal no paró de felicitarnos, pero yo personalmente no pude empujar mucho ya que me dolían las manos muchísimo, gajes del oficio. Salí a tocar el día antes con las manos frías y eso a veces es criminal, te deja tocado para mas de 24 horas. Además llevaba toda la semana durmiendo tandas de menos de 6 horas (de natural, por exceso de responsabilidades) y justo el día antes dormí apenas 3 horas y eso te va restando energía hasta que no puedes mas.

       Pero bueno, el personal se lo pasó que te cagas ya que mis compañeros del grupo se mantuvieron arriba, aunque sorprende siempre en casa esa falta de reacción del público catalán (lo puedo decir con todas las de la ley porque yo soy puro catalán), nos cuesta movernos y chillar, expresarnos cuando nos entusiasmamos. Es así, pero ya lo sabemos, aunque esperaba que en una localidad con tanta inmigración, creo que andaluza sobretodo, pues esperaba que fuera como en el sur que se vuelven locos, que es lo que me gusta a mi.

       También estaba Jim Janik con nosotros, nuestro ingeniero de sonido en los discos que tomaba apuntes para la mezcla que estamos haciendo del concierto del BTM que sacaremos en dvd y audio la primera semana de octubre.

     We lived up to our word and made up for the concert we cancelled last year after Marina’s operation. It’s just so good to play en casa, because that’s the feeling, especially since I lived one year close to here, between Collbató and Piera, en the house of my good friend Xavi Jimenez (who died just last August), co-founder of the musical project Amalgama in which we started to experiment with the fusion between flamenco and Indian music which I transferred, with the help of Max, to Ojos de Brujo. I ran into some folks from that time and failed to mention it on stage during the show, and even missed saying hi to some of them, but I was just so tired from the day before.

       A good show, it was totally packed, and the people kept us happy the whole way through… though I myself couldn’t push as much because my hands were hurting like hell. I played yesterday with cold hands and this is really a sort of crime, it leaves you screwed for more than 24 hours. More than that, I spent the whole week sleeping less than 6 hours (naturally, too many responsibilities…), and right before the show I slept only three hours and this gets your energy until you just can’t even stand up anymore.

       …but all the same, the crew was great and my companions kept the whole thing afloat, even though I’m always surprised at home by the lack of reaction from the Catalan public (and I can say this because I’m pure Catalan, myself), they don’t seem to really give us the same response, to really show us their enthusiasm. It’s always like this, and we already know that, even though we were hoping that in a place with so much immigration, I think from Andalucia more than anywhere, I guess we were thinking maybe it would be like it is down there, with people just going nuts – which is how I really like it.

       Jim “Manic” Janik was also with us, our sound engineer on the latest album, here visiting from New York to work on the mix that we’re doing from the show in BTM (Barcelona Theatre Musical). We’ll release it on DVD and CD the first week of October.
